Suspects Charged Over South Africa Murder

Two women, aged 31 and 38, have appeared in court on Monday, 21 September, following the discovery of Jabulile Ntimba’s body in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg.

They face charges of premeditated murder, perverting the cause of justice, and possessing a dangerous weapon.

Authorities suspect the killing arose from a relationship dispute, describing it as “a possible love triangle” involving individuals known to the victim. A third individual, the brother of one accused, was released due to insufficient evidence.

Ntimba’s body was found partially clothed alongside a roadside on Thursday, 17 September. Her death is the ninth instance of a woman being found dead in the region over two months. The spate of killings has triggered intense public alarm regarding gender-based violence, prompting President Cyril Ramaphosa to promise extra security resources.

Although police analysts are examining potential connections between the nine deaths, officials emphasise that no conclusive proof points to a single serial killer. Meanwhile, a man arrested over a related July murder remains in custody, with further court proceedings for the female suspects set for October.
