Zim & China Sign Big Deals

December 05, 2015

With the arrival of Chinese President, Xi Jingping in Zimbabwe yesterday, we knew that the leader of the communist country would be signing a few deals with the Zimbabwean government.

Today, it has been revealed that Zimbabwe has signed a string of deals with China.

Of all the deals signed, some of the biggest and most expensive was a $1.4 billion agreement for the upgrade of Hwange thermal power plant and a fibre optic project for state-owned telecommunications firm TelOne.

In addition, 10 more government to government deals were signed.

President Robert Mugabe and President Jingping met behind closed doors for nearly two hours to discuss the deals.

According to some sources, the government also signed an agreement for the construction of Zimbabwe’s new parliament building.

It has not yet been specified exactly what the other deals concern.
