ZIFA Pays Debts

January 04, 2016

After a tumultuous first few weeks as the new ZIFA president, Zimbabwean businessman, Philip Chiyangwa has done at least one thing in favour of the organization; paying off ZIFAs long list of debts.

Paying off the organizations debt is part of their preparations for the January Chan finals in Rwanda.

Included in the long list of outstanding payments was the Warriors’ head coach, Kalisto Pasuwa’s salary that has been paid to him. Some of the players who were also expecting payment finally received their payment, too.

ZIFA also paid $180 000 debt to Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet.

In order to pay these outstanding debts and to be able to take part in the CHAN finals, ZIFA managed to secure a $1 million sponsorship deal with Harare-based businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

It is believed that Chivayo will now serve on the board of ZIFA.
