ZanuPF Kicked Out Of Offices
Trouble is mounting once again for ruling party, the ZanuPF, after the party was told to vacate their offices after failing to pay rent.
ZanuPF will not be allowed to return to their offices in the Machipisa Shopping Centre in Harare because of rental arrears.
The party had previously been forced to vacate the offices after it caught fire in what was believed to be an arson attack. The fire started at the offices in 2013, shortly after the verdict of the 2013 elections.
The fire also caused a grocery store in the same building to lose thousands of dollars worth of produce.
The building is owned by one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent business families, the Machipisa brothers. Since the fire, however, the brothers have renovated the entire building and are currently renting the building to the supermarket.
When the ruling party wanted to resume their office space after everything was fixed, they were told that they would not be allowed to occupy their office space once more, as there are outstanding rental fees as well as water bills and electricity bills.
The arrears are said to be running into thousands of dollars.
Since being kicked out of their office space, the ZanuPF has been forced to hold district meetings under trees.
