Zanu-PF To Spend Close To $1million On Mugabe B-day Bash
According to various reports, Zimbabwe’s ruling party, the Zanu-PF, are planning on spending a boatload of cash on President Robert Mugabe’s 92nd birthday party this year.
Mugabe’s birthday bash is scheduled to take place on February 28th at the Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo.
According to reports by various ‘party insiders’, the event is set to cost $770 000. It is also believed that the people of Masvingo province are to raise a further $100 000 for the celebrations.
The Masvingo province has been hit hard by the drought, with many people not having access to food or water.
Other provinces in the country are also believed to raise around $30 000 each for the big birthday bash. The Zanu-PF Youth League is also expected to raise around $400 000.
Zanu- PF Masvingo provincial chairperson, Ezra Chadzamira, has said that the party has vowed to make the year’s celebration of Mugabe’s 92nd year the biggest celebration ever:
“…[sic] We’ve already started and as we speak we’re in the middle of preparing for the big event, we’ve already identified the venue and its Mucheke stadium,” she was quoted as saying.
Mugabe is known for throwing lavish and over-the-top birthday parties year after year.
