Zambia Ready To Take On Zim In Chan Match
The tensions are rising at this year’s Chan Tournament, as Zambia has said that they are more than ready to take on Zimbabwe in their first match of the tournament.
The Warriors will take on neighbouring Zambia on Tuesday in both country’s first match of the games.
And if Zambia’s head coach, George Lwandamina, is to be believed, then the Zambian team is ready to take on the Warriors in a match that will prove to be a very heated and exciting one.
“…[sic] What is exciting is to see, is the high spirit in camp and hard work that the boys are putting in, then you know you are headed for a good championship,” he said.
He continued telling reporters that while they are excited and ready to take on Zimbabwe, people must remember that they are playing against other teams as well:
“…So many people have spoken so much about Zimbabwe…We will give the game the respect it deserves. We are going for a tournament and Zimbabwe is not the only team we will face,” he said.
The reason for Lwandamina’s confidence in his team is probably because of the fact that he has included Chris Katongo and Isaac Chansa in his squad. Both Katongo and Chansa are powerful players, that played a big role in Zambia’s victory of the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
Katongo in particular has had an illustrious career and has played football in Zambia, South Africa, Denmark and Greece. He was also awarded the BBC African Footballer of the Year Award in 2012.
