‘X-Men’ characters get re-cast
It has been rumoured for months that younger versions of the characters of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm would be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse. Now those rumours have finally been confirmed in the form of a tweet by the film’s director Bryan Singer.
In the tweet, Singer confirmed that Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life) was cast as Cyclops, while Alexandra Shipp (Ray Donovan) and Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) will play Storm and Jean Grey respectively.
Meet our new and brilliant young mutants: @Alexshipppp as #Storm @SophieT as #JeanGrey and @TyeSheridan as #Cyclops. #XmenApocalypse

It’s only natural that younger versions of these characters appear as X-Men: Apocalypse is a prequel to the original series where James Marsden, Famke Jansen and Halle Berry played older versions of the characters.
These young actors are set to join the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and newcomer Oscar Isaac as the villain Apocalypse.
The sequel to smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release in May 2016 while spin-offs Deadpool and Gambit are set to release in February and October of the same year.
