‘Wonder Woman’ loses its director
Michelle MacLaren – who directed episodes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and Better Call Saul, and was set to direct a planned Wonder Woman film – has left the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, MacLaren left the film due to "creative differences" with Warner Bros. – the studio behind the film.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Warner Bros. confirmed the news via a statement, which read: "Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together."
Wonder Woman, will star Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious) and is set be the first female superhero film since Elektra back in 2005, which starred Jennifer Garner.
Wonder Woman will make her first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice releasing in 2016, before her solo outing in June 2017.
MacLaren is not the first female director to quit a superhero film following creative differences – Monster director Patty Jenkins quit Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World for the same reason.
So the question is, will Warner Bros. replace MacLaren with another female director, or will they opt for a male to helm the picture instead?
