Winter Hair Hacks

August 02, 2016

While winter sure has its perks – warm fires, hot drinks and getting cosy and cuddly – the season can wreak havoc on your hair.

The cold air can be just as damaging to your hair as the sun can be in summer time.

The cold, harsh, dry air is perhaps the biggest culprit when it comes to winter hair damage. Not only does it dry your hair out, it can also accelerate breakage if you already have weak hair.

Here are some of our favourite winter hair hacks to keep locks looking luscious during the cold season.

  1. Condition, condition, condition

The biggest problem in winter is dry hair, so it is extremely important to keep your hair nourished by condition it as much as possible.

Use a cream-based conditioner every time you wash your hair and also invest in a hair mask that can condition your hair additionally.

  1. Protect your hair

When you go out in cold, harsh winter air, it’s important to protect your hair from the elements.

Try wearing hats or beanies, or even a leave-in conditioner or mask when you go out in the cold. A protective layer over your hair can go a long way.

  1. Blow-dry less

In winter, your hair takes longer to dry by itself, so you will inevitably have to make use of a hairdryer.

However, blowdrying your hair can damage it even further – especially in winter when everything is already dry.

If time allows you to, try and let your hair dry naturally and then style afterwards. Once again, a protective mask or leave-in conditioner will work wonders here.

Hopefully these winter hair hacks will help you keep your mane looking fresh and luscious during winter!
