WHO Announces Outbreak of Ebola in DRC
The World Health Organization has announced that there has been another outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
WHO, alongside the government of the DRC, confirmed on Saturday that there are currently eleven suspected cases of Ebola in the country.
The organisation also confirmed that there had already been three deaths related to the sudden outbreak.
Most of the reported cases have been in the Likati district of the Bas-Uele province in the north of the country.
On Sunday, however, WHO released another statement, saying that there has been two more reported cases of Ebola in the same area.
This recent outbreak seems to be spreading faster than other recent outbreaks, however, WHO has confirmed that all of the reported patients are receiving medical attention.
Back in April of this year, the DRC government confirmed that one man – who was discovered around 1400 kilometers from the capital of Kinshasa – had tested positive for Ebola.
WHO said that they are working closely with the DRC government to contain the outbreak.
