West Ham’s Wilshere Out for Six Weeks
West Ham United midfielder, Jack Wilshere, will be out for six weeks following surgery on an injured ankle.
In a written statement, Richard Collinge, the club’s head of medical, said: “[Wilshere] underwent successful surgery in London on Monday morning for a minor ongoing ankle issue.”
Collinge added: “We envisage he will only need a relatively short period of rest and will then start his rehabilitation. [Wilshere] is focused and determined to get back into training and playing as soon as possible.”
The 26-year-old forward – who has played four times with the Hammers after transferring from Arsenal – has reportedly struggled to find his best form during the current Premier League season.
Wilshere was substituted during the 1-0 defeat against the Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 September. He was also out of action prior to West Ham United’s 3-1 victory last Sunday against Everton.
The forward will now miss the Hammers’ matches against Chelsea this weekend, on Sunday 23 September, and Manchester United on Saturday, 29 September.
