Wenger: Vardy To Stay At Leicester
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said that it is most likely that English footballer, Jamie Vardy, will stay at his current Premier League club, Leicester City.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Wenger said that Vardy is currently with Leicester and will most likely remain there. This comes after various reports that Arsenal has been in serious talks with the striker to join them at the Emirates stadium.
Reports earlier in the months suggested that Arsenal had offered Vardy a contract of more than £20 million.
However, Arsenal’s offer then made Leicester propose a counter offer which seems to have accepted. Reports suggest that Vardy has signed his latest contract, which will see him stay with Leicester City for at least another three years.
Wenger said of Vardy:
“…Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know, he will stay at Leicester,”
Vardy, on the other hand, has not made any comments regarding his Premier League career, most recently telling reporters at Euro 2016 that he is just focusing on his national duty:
“…No, nothing at all. I am just here completely focusing on England. That’s all that I want to do at the moment,” he said.
Vardy has been a star player for England so far at the European Championships in France.
