Wenger: Ozil ‘Back In The Game’

April 06, 2017

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has praised midfielder, Mesut Ozil, saying the 28-year-old has got his head back in the game after an impressive performance against West Ham on Wednesday.

Ozil helped his team win their Premier League match against West Ham on Wednesday evening 3-0.

Ozil scored the first goal of the match in the 58th minute, and helped set up teammate Theo Walcott for Arsenal’s second goal. Olivier Giroud scored the third and final goal of the game.

After the game, Wenger had nothing but praise for the German international.

“I feel he is back physically and with focus…He had been hit hard by us going out of the Champions League and it took him some time to recover from that mentally…I feel for a few weeks now in training he is really focused again and that comes out in the game [sic],” he told reporters after the game.

Wenger also said that he firmly believes that Arsenal will find a spot in the top four in the Premier League – which will then allow them to qualify for the Champions League.

In his 21 years at the club, Wenger has never failed to qualify for the Champions League.

“It’s possible of course…We have players back from injury and we have done it before in more difficult conditions,” he said.

Arsenal has now surpassed Manchester United on the English Premier League log and is currently in fifth position, bumping United down to sixth.
