Welcome to the New 007

The next “James Bond” movie will see the famous British spy hand over the designated codename to another agent – and speculation is rife on who will take up the mantle as “007”.

Actor Daniel Craig is set to make his final appearance – after several painful disruptions to production – as the lead character in the next untitled film of the franchise based on the books by Ian Fleming.

Sources say that the 25th film will open with a retired Bond, enjoying some well-earned R&R in Jamaica, before receiving the call to deal with a new villain.

Screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge is believed to have had a hand in getting the story to have the secret agent pass on the title.

Reports claim that British actress, Lashana Lynch – who starred previously in the recent film, “Captain Marvel” – is tipped to take on the role next.

An insider said: “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, ‘Come in, 007’, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful, and a woman. It’s a popcorn-dropping moment.”
