Watch Selena’s heartbreaking video
Selena Gomez finally took Taylor Swift’s advice and has written a song about her personal experiences.
The song – The Heart Wants What it Wants – is Gomez’s most heart-wrenching, personal and honest song to date, and is speculated to be about her failed relationship with fellow pop-star Justin Bieber… if the song lyrics and music video are any indication.
The song is about Gomez struggling to get out of a relationship that she knows is bad but won’t, because, as she simply puts it "The heart wants what it wants".
The black and white music video features Gomez meeting up with her love interest, played by actor Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) and his entourage. She seems rather happy with her lover, but uncomfortable being in the same room as his entourage. Gomez gets teary-eyed throughout most of the video, especially when her lover takes a particular interest in another female entourage member.
The video opens with Gomez uttering the following monologue:
"When I was on stage and I was thinking… I felt like I know him though and I know his heart and I know what he wouldn’t do to hurt me. But I didn’t realise that feeling so confident and feeling so great about myself and then it just be completely shattered by one thing..by something so stupid. But then you make me feel crazy. You make me feel like it’s my fault. I was in pain."

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Gomez revealed that the video was filmed about a year ago and was delayed several times explaining: "The video was supposed to come out three times and through coincidence or through changes [in my life], it just didn’t happen."
Strangely enough, Gomez revealed to Seacrest that she showed the video to Bieber and that he thinks it’s "beautiful".
"I think he was a little jealous of the video guy at first," joked Gomez.
The song will feature on Gomez’s upcoming greatest hits album For You, set for release later this month. The album will consist of songs from the pop singer’s solo album (such as Come and Get It and Slow Down), as well as songs from her former band Selena Gomez & the Scene (such as Love You Like a Love Song and Naturally).
