Watch: ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot trailer
The first official trailer for the Fantastic Four reboot/remake is finally here, and you can view it below.
It’s a teaser trailer so don’t expect much in terms of plot (or seeing the actors in the full glory of their super-powered forms) as the trailer mostly shows the Fantastic Four as humans. Although, we do get to see one or two glimpses of some members in super-powered form with one iconic shot at the end of the trailer of the four united side by side…

As you can see, the trailer mostly showcases the film’s tone and lets audiences know exactly in which direction the filmmakers have decided to go with this new take on these characters.
The trailer clarifies most of the cast and producer Simon Kinberg’s comments that this reboot will be grittier, darker and more grounded than the previous films and, by watching the trailer, you can sort of see that the filmmakers used Christopher Nolan’s Batman films as an influence.

Personally, when watching this trailer, the film Interstellar (also directed by Christopher Nolan) came to mind as the voiceover in the trailer speaks about human beings’ "immeasurable desire" to discover, invent and build, with the human race’s future relying on "furthering these ideas".
Sounds like a grounded sci-fi film to me, which is interesting because instead of following the usual superhero clichés, the filmmakers have decided to take this genre into a different and unique direction.
While this sounds quite risky, remember what Marvel did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where we got a political thriller-styled superhero film and the results were unanimously positive.
Let’s hope 20th Century Fox gives us something innovative with this new Fantastic Four reboot when it hits cinemas this August.
Check out the film’s first poster and official synopsis below:
THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox
The Fantastic Four reboot was directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) and stars Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm), Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm) and Toby Kebbell (Dr Doom).
