Verna Vels, the famous voice behind popular Afrikaans puppet show, Liewe Heksie has passed away.
Vels died in her sleep at her home in Johannesburg last night after she lost her battle with cancer. She was 81 years old.
The Liewe Heksie stories began as radio stories, written and read by Verna Vels, in 1961 before coming onto television.
