Valentin Barco Officially Joins Chelsea
Chelsea have bolstered their midfield options with the signing of Valentin Barco from RC Strasbourg.
The 22-year-old Argentine national has committed to a seven-year contract that will keep him at the Blues until 2033. Details regarding his salary have yet to be disclosed.
“Barco … began his career with Boca Juniors in Argentina,” a statement on Chelsea’s website reads. “He made his professional debut at 16 years old, after rising through the academy ranks, and won numerous titles before moving to England in 2024 to join Brighton & Hove Albion.”
Following a loan spell at Strasbourg during the 2024/25 season, he joined the French outfit on a permanent basis.
“Barco contributed to 12 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions last term, and his form at club level saw him named in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” the statement continues. “He currently has five international appearances to his name.”
Barco will join his new team-mates on their pre-season tour to Asia this week.
This transfer marks Chelsea’s sixth signing of the summer, having secured deals for the following players: Morgan Rogers, Danny Welbeck, Emmanuel Emegha, Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra.
