US Organisation Donates Wedding Gowns to Healthcare Workers

July 17, 2020

Millions of people around the world have been forced to put many life events on hold due to the coronavirus crisis – including their wedding day.

Now, a non-profit organisation in the United States of America is donating bridal wedding gowns to frontline healthcare workers who have little time to plan for their special day during the pandemic.

Based in Andover, Massachusetts, Brides Across America (BAA) – known for giving away wedding dresses to female military personnel and first responders – are steering their efforts towards donating gowns to brides-to-be in the medical field.

Heidi Jansen, the founder of BAA, explained: “We just wanted to do something to give back and at least say, ‘Hey, we’re thinking of you.’ They’re putting their lives on the line … so this was our way to give back to them.”

BAA ships these gowns to boutiques or event spaces across the country. So far, more than 150 healthcare workers have been gifted wedding dresses.

BAA is encouraging the public to aid their efforts by donating good quality gowns that are less than five-years-old, along with veils, gift cards and jewellery.
