US Election: Voting Day Most Important in Recent History
The US Election has been the most talked about news event over the past year, and with voting day finally here, Americans are getting ready to cast their vote in what has been called the most important Presidential Election in modern US history.
Former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is going head-to-head with billionaire Donald Trump.
Democrat Clinton and Republican Trump has clashed several times during the run-up to the election and their campaigns differ greatly on various topics.
Now, as Americans get ready to head to the polls, all the world’s media is on them.
Various reports thus far are suggesting that Clinton is leading the vote nationally by between two to seven points. However, different news sources are reporting different numbers, so it is not yet clear as to exactly how many points Clinton is in the lead with.
Over the past few weeks it has also become apparent that there are a few so-called ‘swing states’ that have no clear indication as of yet as to which way they are voting.
These states include Florida and North Carolina.
Trump’s campaign have even acknowledged that they will not be able to win if they don’t win in these two states.
These two states are not as crucial for Clinton, though still very important. Some news outlets are saying that if Clinton wins Florida, she will most likely win the entire election.
With early voting taken into consideration and ballots being counted, its seems that Clinton and the Democratic Party are leading (thus far) in both Florida and North Carolina, albeit by a small margin.
In Florida, the Democratic Party is leading 39.9% to 38.5 for the Republican Party.
In North Carolina, the Democratic Party is also leading by a bigger margin, 42% to 32%.
