United: Mourinho Would Welcome Gareth Bale

August 08, 2017

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has said that he would welcome Real Madrid striker, Gareth Bale, to his squad, should he become available.

Mourinho has had his eye on the Welsh international for a while now. Earlier this year, it seemed as though Bale may move back to the English Premier League and join United.

However, those hopes faded when Bale was included in Real Madrid’s 24-man squad for today’s UEFA Super Cup final match against Manchester United.

The UEFA Super Cup pits the winners of the Champions League (Madrid) against the winners of the Europa League (United).

Rumours in Spain suggest that Madrid would be willing to let Bale go to make way for Kylian Mbappe of Monaco.

Mourinho recently told reporters that it would be “impossible” to bring Bale to United now, as he is part of Madrid’s core squad.

However, he did also say:

“If he’s not in the club’s plans…that the arrival of another player [would] perhaps [mean that] Gareth would be on his way out…If he is on his way out of Real Madrid, well, I’ll try to be waiting for him on the other side and try to fight with other coaches that would also like to have him on his team [sic]” he told reporters.

United take on Real Madrid at the Philip II National Arena in Skopje in Macedonia tonight.
