UEFA Gives Russia Suspended Ban at Euro 2016
Russia’s fans have certainly caused the national football team some trouble.
After Russian fans caused havoc at the European Championships – specifically at the match between Russia and England on Saturday – UEFA had ruled that Russia is responsible for their fans’ actions and have subsequently given the team a “suspended ban.”
On Saturday, Russian fans caused various stadium disturbances including yelling out and chanting racist remarks and throwing fireworks onto the field.
The suspended disqualification could be lifted at any time, however, and UEFA also fined the Russian Football Union €150,000.
“…This disqualification is suspended until the end of the tournament…Such suspension will be lifted if incidents of a similar nature (crowd disturbances) happen inside the stadium at any of the remaining matches of the Russian team during the tournament,” UEFA said in a statement.
