Two Men Jailed Over Pangolin
Two Zimbabwean men have been jailed over the illegal possession of an endangered Pangolin animal.
Magistrate Tendai Mahwe sentenced the two men, Stanley Madhaiza and Joseph Masakanya to nine years in prison. However, the court is still deciding whether or not to send Masakanya to prison, as he is very ill with cancer.
The two men first plead not guilty and denied the charges. They also named six other people who were reportedly involved in the illegal trade, one of them being a police detective.
However, all six people they implicated in the operation were acquitted.
A Pangolin animal is very rare and it is believed that the men were going to get about $5,000 for the animal.
