Twitter Tries to Cancel Dua Lipa over Strip Club Video
Singer Dua Lipa has received immense support on social media, after video footage of her visiting a strip club recently emerged online.
The “New Rules” hitmaker – accompanied by fellow singers Lizzo, Lil Nas X and Rosalia – visited the Crazy Girls strip club in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, 26 January.
They had all attended the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards a few hours prior.
In the viral video clip posted by Twitter user @lewisbruises, Dua Lipa is seen throwing dollar bills at female performers.
In the caption, the same user was critical: “What a good example Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Rosalia sexualizing women [sic] and then say [sic] they’re feminists.”
Despite the video spawning the hashtag, #dualipaisoverparty, countless tweeps came to Dua Lipa’s defence, with one writing: “Since when are women not allowed to go to strip clubs? Women supporting women is all i [sic] see here.”
Another wrote: “Y’all got nerve to cancel Dua Lipa … mean while [sic] there are men in the same industry that do this on a daily basis.”
