Tuchel Frustrated by “Silent” England Fans

October 10, 2025

England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed disappointment with the lack of atmosphere during his side’s 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley Stadium in England on Thursday, 9 October.

Despite a blistering start, in which Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka all scored within 20 minutes, the German coach felt his players deserved a more energetic reception from the stadium crowd.

“The stadium was silent. We never got any energy back from the stands,” Tuchel told an international publication in the post-match interview. He later added: “If you hear just Wales fans for half an hour, it’s sad because the team deserved big support today.”

The 52-year-old tactician later clarified that he still values English supporters, but thought the audience’s noise failed to match the team’s performance.

“We were 3-0 up after 20 minutes … why is the roof still on the stadium?” he remarked.

The England boss has now won six of his seven games since taking charge in January and remains on course to secure World Cup qualification. With key players such as Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham sidelined, Tuchel praised his side’s collective effort but urged home fans to lift the team in future fixtures.

“It’s on us to be infectious,” he added. “But tonight, I was a little underwhelmed.”
