Trump Threatens Legal Action Over Noah’s Epstein Joke
Donald Trump, president of the United States, has vowed to sue comedian Trevor Noah following a joke made during the 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday, 1 February.
While hosting his final ceremony at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, Noah suggested Trump’s interest in Greenland stemmed from a need for a new island to “hang out with Bill Clinton” now that Jeffrey Epstein’s private island is gone.
The joke followed the recent release of three million documents linked to the late sex offender. Trump, who has historically sought to block the release of such files, reacted with fury on Truth Social. He denied ever visiting Epstein’s island, labelling the comedian a “poor, pathetic, talentless dope of an M.C.”
Trump further asserted, “Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!”
He warned the South African-born host should “get ready” for a lawsuit.
A broader political rift between the White House and the music industry defined the evening. High-profile winners used their acceptance speeches to condemn current immigration policies, while many attendees wore protest pins.
Trump dismissed the entire ceremony as a low-quality production, while Noah ended his tenure by lightheartedly questioning what consequences he could face during his final year.
