Trent Alexander-Arnold to Leave Liverpool After 20 Years
Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will depart Liverpool at the end of the season, when his contract expires on 30 June.
After more than two decades at the club, the 26-year-old will join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold – a graduate of the Reds’ academy – has played 352 games, winning numerous titles, including the Champions League and the English Premier League twice.
Despite Liverpool’s efforts to secure his future with a lucrative contract, the defender has opted for a new challenge to continue his growth as both a player and person.
Alexander-Arnold released a statement via the club’s website on Monday, 5 May, explaining: “It’s not an easy decision, and there’s a lot of thought and feeling that has gone into it. I’ve been here [for] 20 years now, loved every single minute of it, achieved all my dreams, achieved everything I’ve ever wanted to here.”
As he prepares to leave, the athlete hopes the fans and team will continue to celebrate the successes of the season, and reassures them that, although he leaves as a player, his support for Liverpool will never fade.
