Tottenham Finalise Deal for New Manager

June 06, 2023

Tottenham Hotspur are currently finalising a deal for Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou, to take over as manager for the Spurs.

The London-based club reportedly held talks with the 57-year-old Australian on Monday, 5 June, to iron out the last details in a two-year contract, with an option to extend. The agreement will be confirmed once compensation is settled with the manager’s current Scottish club.

Having a new manager at the helm will be a big relief for Tottenham, who have been jumping from caretaker to caretaker since late March, when the club announced that Antonio Conte would be leaving the role by “mutual agreement” after only 16 months in charge.

Cristian Stellini, followed by Ryan Mason, helped the team conclude an overall disappointing 2022/2023 season, leaving the Spurs sitting in eighth place on the English Premier League table and in their first season without European football since 2009/2010.

It seems likely that Postecoglou will be coming in with a strict regime, as one of his former players – St Johnstone defender Ryan McGowan – told an international publication on Monday that he didn’t go to the toilet on a 16-hour flight due to fear of disturbing his “scary” boss who had been seated next to him.
