Tottenham Dramatically Win Their Way to CL Final
Tottenham Hotspur clawed their way into the UEFA Champions League final, after fighting back from 3-0 down on aggregate away against Ajax.
The Spurs went into the match trailing 1-0 from their first leg, and within the first five minutes Ajax captain, Matthijs de Ligt, had doubled that advantage.
Later in the first half, Hakim Ziyech secured Ajax’s lead with an assist by former Southampton winger, Dusan Tadic.
It looked like it was all over for Tottenham, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side managed to score twice within five minutes during the second half, both goals by 26-year-old Lucas Moura.
This left the Spurs needing just one more goal to win on aggregate and secure their place in the Champions League final for the first time – and Moura rose to the challenge.
In the 96th minute, with the last kick of the game, the Brazilian scored his third goal of the evening with a left-foot shot from 15 metres away, sending Tottenham to the Champions League final and his manager, Pochettino, into tears of joy.
The Spurs will be playing Liverpool for the title, and it will be the second all-English final in the competition ever, after Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties in 2008.
