Tory Lanez Charged over Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

October 09, 2020

Things keep getting worse for rapper Tory Lanez, as he has now been hit with assault charges following an incident in which he shot fellow rapper, Megan Thee Stallion.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced the news via a press statement on Thursday, 8 October, nearly three months after that fateful night.

According to the statement – which does not directly name Thee Stallion and Lanez – the defendant and victim got into an altercation “while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills” on 12 July.

The statement continues: “The victim exited the vehicle, and [Lanez] is accused of shooting several times at her feet and wounding her.”

Thee Stallion has since recovered – a month later, she provided details of the shooting on social media, and later directly accused Lanez of being the one who shot her.

Lanez – real name Daystar Peterson – has two felony counts against him: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in the vehicle. A secured conviction means he could receive 22 years and eight months in prison.

His arraignment is set for 13 October.
