Time Magazine: Mbappe is the ‘Future of Soccer’
Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe’s monumental rise to world-wide fame has earned him an appearance on the Friday cover of Time magazine’s international edition.
The publication said that the 19-year-old is a global football icon and the “future of soccer”.
Mbappe first made headlines in September 2017, when he moved from Ligue 1 side Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain for an incredible €180 million. It was an amount that saw the then 18-year-old player earning a reported monthly salary of €1.8 million.
The Parisian teenager’s talents became world-renowned during this year’s World Cup thanks to multiple displays of superb play, which gained compliments from all quarters.
Former Brazilian footballing legend Pele has also heaped praise on the young striker, saying: “If [Mbappe] keeps on equalling my records, I’m going to have to dust off my boots.”
Mbappe went on to help France beat a 20-year wait to lift the coveted World Cup gold. He also received FIFA’s award for Best Young Player of the World Cup after scoring four goals in the tournament.
