Ticket Scalpers Cash in on Nipsey Hussle’s Death
Free tickets to a public memorial service for slain rapper, Nipsey Hussle, are reportedly being sold online for profit.
Almost two weeks ago, the “Victory Lap” hitmaker – real name Ermias Davidson Asghedom – died after he was shot multiple times at close range outside the clothing store he owned in Los Angeles, California.
Hussle’s memorial service will be taking place tomorrow, 11 April, at the 21 000-seat Staples Centre in Los Angeles. Complimentary tickets for the service reportedly “sold out” after they were made available yesterday morning.
According to numerous media reports, however, the tickets are being resold by ticket scalpers on various websites for up to $500 each.
Cara Vanderhook, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Staples Centre, slammed the scalpers for “capitalising on someone’s death”.
She said: “We’re trying to make the availability as wide as possible and combat against resale, but we do everything we can and it still happens.”
In response, websites have cracked down on scalpers by pulling ads that are selling the tickets to the service.
