The Soil returns to The Lyric
The Soil is back to treat loyal fans to their latest album Nostalgic Moments at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre on November 27 and 28.
The group is returning from a successful long-month tour of the United States and the United Kingdom, which started on October 8 and finishes on November 7.
Defined as Kasi Soul, The Soil’s music features an eclectic mix of musical genres such as jazz, hip hop, Afro-pop and Afro-soul.
The a cappella group’s new album, Nostalgic Moments, draws its influence and strength from the sounds and music of the Sophiatown era, which was a centre of urban African music and culture.
In just under 3 years, since the release of their debut album, The Soil has already won the hearts and minds of the musical world. The group has received recognition, awards and critical acclaim from fans stretching across Europe, North America, South Africa, and as far afield as Asia.
The Soil’s second album is topping the charts at retail stores countrywide and on iTunes with smash hit tracks such as Hamba Uyosebenza feat Ladysmith Black Mambazo, as well as Susan feat Khuli Chana, and has approached the Gold selling mark in just under two weeks of release.
