‘The Huntsman’ finds a new director

January 22, 2015

The Huntsman suffered a major loss when Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) left the director’s chair due to "creative differences" with the studio The Wrap reported.

However, the show must go on as Universal has now found a replacement. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has hired Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to helm the prequel to 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman.

Nicolas-Troyan was the second unit director for Snow White and the Huntsman as well as Maleficent, and he also did Snow White‘s visual effects for which he got nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

The Huntsman stars Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron who reprise their roles as Eric the Huntsman and the Evil Queen Ravenna respectively.

According to a press release that Universal Pictures first issued when they announced the film, The Huntsman reveals "how the fates of two characters, The Huntsman Eric and Ravenna, intersected before they met Snow White."

The Wrap also reported that Emily Blunt is "in negotiations" to star in the film as Ravenna’s sister the Snow Queen, although nothing is confirmed as of yet.

The Huntsman is set to hit theatres on April 22, 2016.
