Ten-Week Injury Blow for Man Utd Winger Patrick Dorgu

January 27, 2026

Manchester United have been rocked by the news that Patrick Dorgu faces a lengthy ten-week layoff.

Although interim head coach Michael Carrick initially hoped the winger was suffering from “a little bit of cramp” during the 3-2 victory at Arsenal on Sunday, 25 January, scans have since confirmed a much more serious hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old Denmark international had recently become a cornerstone of the team’s tactical resurgence. Thriving in an advanced left-sided role, Dorgu scored in consecutive wins against Manchester City and Arsenal, taking his season tally to three goals and three assists.

Carrick described the youngster’s recent contributions as “immense”, but he must now find a solution for a missing profile that offers natural width.

Dorgu is expected to miss at least eight English Premier League fixtures, including critical matches against Tottenham and Newcastle. He is also ruled out of Denmark’s World Cup play-offs in March.

Medical staff have set a tentative return date for the clash with Leeds United on 11 April. In his absence, Matheus Cunha is the primary candidate to step into the starting eleven.
