Taylor Swift Honours Hollywood Legend
Taylor Swift has released a visually striking music video for her song “Elizabeth Taylor,” the centrepiece of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The track explores the parallel lives of the two icons, both of whom rose to fame as child stars before navigating the complexities of womanhood under an intense global spotlight.
The video serves as a cinematic homage, blending archival footage of Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary filmography with Swift’s own twenty-year career. This tribute earned high praise from the late actress’s family.
Her grandson, Quinn Tivey, said: “What Taylor [Swift] has done here is more than a music video; it’s a conversation between two women who refused to be defined by the headlines. Our grandmother was a fighter, and we see that same fire in Taylor.”
The official Elizabeth Taylor Estate also sanctioned the project, stating, “Taylor Swift has beautifully captured the spirit of Elizabeth: the courage, the glamour, and the relentless pursuit of love and justice.”
While accepting the Artist of the Year award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards last week, Swift reflected on her journey, telling fans, “Thank you for allowing me to turn my hobby into a love, into a passion, into a dream, into a career.”
