Taylor Swift Drops Surprise 8th Album Overnight
Calling all Swifties! Taylor Swift dropped her eighth album last night, and no, this is not a drill!
The 30-year-old songstress released her latest album – titled “Folklore” – at midnight almost entirely unannounced on Thursday evening, 23 July.
Swift surprised everyone via Twitter shortly before the clock struck twelve.
In a tweet, she said: “Surprise! Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my 8th studio album, folklore [sic].”
The body of work contains 16 new tracks that she poured all of her “whims, dreams, fears and musings into”.
Not only did the “You Belong With Me” hitmaker give the world new music, but she also released music videos for each respective song at the same time.
On the development of “Folklore”, Swift said: “I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine.”
Other musical talents included record producer Aaron Dessner; indie folk band, Bon Iver; singer-songwriters Jack Antonoff and William Bowery.
