Stars sign Jay Z’s streaming service

March 31, 2015

Top celebrities including Madonna, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and Rihanna gathered for the much hyped launch of Jay Z’s supposedly revolutionary streaming service Tidal.

The streaming service has already been criticised for showing how out of touch these very celebrities are that they expect their fans to pay twice as much as the other competitors so that they could hear higher quality songs that make them richer.

No one really knows why the streaming service is being called “future of music.”

Upon signing up for a free trial at tidal.com, users saw two options; pay $9.99/month and get the basic service (premium) or pay $20/month and get the HiFi version, which incorporates high quality, lossless audio.

The streaming service is only beneficial for the rich superstars but there have been claims that it pays out higher rates. Some reports claim that Tidal is offering some artists payouts twice as high as competitors’.

But recently, Bjork collaborator The Haxan Cloak recently spoke out against the streaming service accusing them of using an imitation of his music. He tweeted: “Just to clarify, I’m not saying Tidal used my music,” he explained. “I’m saying they used an imitation of it. This happens to artists way too often.”
