Spurs Inch Towards Thomas Frank for Head Coach
Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to appointing Thomas Frank as their new head coach, following the departure of Ange Postecoglou last Friday, 6 June.
The 51-year-old Brentford boss has verbally agreed terms with Spurs, and the club is preparing to trigger his £10-million release clause.
Frank, who has managed Brentford since 2018, is open to talks and is expected to bring several members of his backroom staff with him. Under his leadership, Brentford gained promotion to the English Premier League (EPL) and have since become an established top-flight side, with notable victories over major clubs.
Postecoglou was dismissed after Spurs endured their worst EPL campaign since 1977 – despite recently winning the Europa League. With UEFA Champions League football returning next season, the franchise sees Frank as a long-term solution to steady the ship and build on recent cup success.
Tottenham technical director Johan Lange, who previously worked with Frank in Denmark, is leading the push for his appointment. Despite a lack of European managerial experience, he is praised for tactical adaptability and ability to maximise limited resources.
Supporters remain hopeful that their team’s next manager receives the backing needed to compete on multiple fronts and deliver consistent results at the highest level.
