Springboks’ Narrow Escape

October 19, 2015

South Africa’s national rugby team, the Springboks, narrowly escaped elimination from this year’s Rugby World Cup, as they beat Wales in the dying minutes of the game.

Springbok captain, Fourie Du Preez, scored the winning try in the 75th minute, allowing the Springboks to win the match by 23 points to 19.

And while Welsh hearts were certainly broken, the whole of South Africa breathed a big sigh of relief.

Coach Heyneke Meyer later on praised the ‘tactical genius’ that is Fourie Du Preez and said that if it was not for him thinking on his feet, the South African squad may very well have been on a plane back home.

South Africa now take on the mighty All Blacks – who are also the reigning champions – in the semi-final on Saturday.
