Solskjaer Lashes Out at Referee after 2-0 Defeat
Manchester United’s caretaker-manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, says that referee John Moss should be “disappointed” for awarding Arsenal a controversial penalty during their match on Sunday, 10 March.
In the 69th minute, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette tumbled to the turf after coming into minimal contact with Man United striker, Fred. Despite the minor brush, Moss made the decision to award the Gunners a penalty.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the penalty show, allowing Arsenal to secure a 2-0 victory over the Red Devils and to climb above them into fourth place on the Premier League table.
This was Solskjaer’s first loss in 16 domestic matches since being appointed in December last year.
In the post-match interview, the unhappy Norwegian coach condemned Moss’s penalty decision.
He said: “[Arsenal] had the penalty and I think [Jon Moss] will be disappointed when he sees it, because I don’t think it’s a penalty after seeing it on TV. Of course, [Lacazette] just knocked the ball through. They didn’t really carve us open.”
