Snoop Dogg: I’m Going to Get Out and Vote
Snoop Dogg recently announced that he intends voting for the first time in the upcoming 2020 US presidential elections, because he cannot stand seeing the current incumbent in office any longer.
The 48-year-old rapper – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. – recently called in to “Big Boy’s Neighbourhood” radio show to discuss slain African American, George Floyd, and the “Black Lives Matter” protests that have gripped the country in Floyd’s name.
He also touched on serious topics such as police brutality and systemic racism, while also being conscious of being safe during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Additionally, the “Still a G Thang” songwriter spoke about how previous convictions for drug possession and gun charges – in 1990 and 2007, respectively – had been expunged from his record, enabling him to vote.
He explained: “For many years, they had me brainwashed thinking you couldn’t [vote] because you had a criminal record. I didn’t know that. My record’s been expunged, so now I can vote.”
Snoop Dogg also referred to current US president, Donald Trump, as a “punk”, claimed that voting this year is “important”, and encouraged everyone to “make a difference”.
