Snoop Dogg Admits He Pirated Jay-Z’s New Album

July 05, 2017

It seems that Snoop Dogg is just like the rest of us!

The legendary rapper recently sent a shout-out to fellow rap legend, Jay-Z, congratulating him on his new album, “4:44”, which was released last Friday.

In a (now deleted) video posted to his official Instagram account, Snoop congratulates Jay-Z on the release of his album, while telling his followers that he is really impressed with Jay’s new body of work.

However, he did allude to something else: that he had to get a bootleg copy as he is not signed up to the Tidal streaming service.

Jay-Z released his album exclusively on Tidal, a music streaming service that he owns, which means that people not subscribed to the service would not be able to listen to his new music.

Snoop hilariously states in his video post that he ‘does not understand’ Tidal and that he is most certainly not subscribed to the service.

Being an innovator, however, the Doggfather found a way around it…

“Top of the morning…I want to shoot a shout-out to Jay-Z, just dropped another…hot album, 4:44,” Snoops starts off saying in his video.

“Y’all gotta explain that [Tidal] to me. I went to iTunes looking for his album, I couldn’t find it. But my homie sent it to me…I don’t got Tidal, so [my friend] had to bootleg it to me. I’m on iTunes, cuz [sic],” he said.

Well, he may not be subscribed to Tidal but Snoop was still very much impressed with Jay’s latest offering.

Jay-Z’s plan to launch his album exclusively on Tidal to attract more subscribers seems to have failed, though, as he announced recently, his album will be made available on Apple Music next week.
