Shurugwi Workers Unpaid For 5 Months

Workers at the Shurugwi Town Council has been doing their jobs without being paid for a staggering 5 months, according to a new report.

Some of the employees at the Shurugwi Town Council has decided to break the silence and speak to the media (on condition of anonymity) about the atrocities that have been going on at the council.

According to the employees, they have not been paid their salaries since June:

“…[sic] We are owed five month salaries and the situation is really bad for us here…It has become hard if not a nightmare for us to live a normal life and the situation has really become desperate,” some of the workers said.

Another employee said that while the workers have not been paid in five months, two senior officials recently bought themselves luxury vehicles:

“…[sic] Council recently purchased two Ford Rangers for senior officials when we have not been paid for months…On top of that, 19 laptops were bought for managers and councillors.”
