Shaw Seals New Deal with the Red Devils

Manchester United defender, Luke Shaw, has signed a five-year deal with the club after a strong start to the Premier League season.

The 23-year-old Englishman, whose contract was due to expire this summer, confirmed the news on Thursday via Twitter.

He said: “So proud to have signed a new deal! I’ll continue to do all I can for you guys and repay the faith the fans and club have shown in me.”

Shaw joined the Red Devils from Southampton in 2014 for a record £27 million. However, he had since been limited to 50 Premier League appearances with the Red Devils due to a variety of injury, form and fitness issues.

The defender was a regular in former club boss Louis van Gaal’s team until he broke his leg against PSV Eindhoven in September 2015.

On his return to fitness, Shaw was often publicly criticised by current manager Jose Mourinho, who has since been won over by the Englishman’s consistently impressive performances this season.
