Selena Gomez Slams Instagram in Vogue Interview

March 16, 2017

Selena Gomez has kind-of, sort-of slammed social media network, Instagram, in her latest Vogue interview, saying that the site ‘consumed her’.

Selena, who became the most followed person on Instagram last year, says it was precisely for that reason that she decided to the delete the app and move away from the social networking site.
“As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn’t want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn’t want to care about. I always end up feeling like s–t when I look at Instagram,” she told the magazine.

While ‘Selena’ is back on Instagram as of late, following her sabbatical from the public eye last year, she clarifies her presence on the site in the interview, saying it is merely her team that manages the account now.

“I’m kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit,” she said.

Selena, who is currently dating fellow singer, The Weeknd, said that she lives her life ‘off the grid’. She is not as active on social media anymore and only keeps a group of close friends around her.

“I think 17 people have my phone number right now…Maybe two are famous,” she said.
