SA’s #feesmustfall Protests Escalate
South Africa is facing somewhat of a student uprising as university students across the country continue their #feesmustfall campaign, calling on the government to reduce universities across the country.
However, the protests have gained traction and has now extended to the whole country, including those who are not students.
Today is the 5th consecutive day where protest rallies have been held all over South Africa including Cape Town, Johannesburg, PE, as well as in Pretoria where people are marching to the Union buildings.
The protests have also become more violent, with police deploying stun grenades and water canons to the protesting students.
The government seems to be keeping mum on the protests, while some reports, however, suggests that President Jacob Zuma will address the nation on the issue.
