Sarah Sanders Resigns as White House Press Secretary
United States President, Donald Trump, has officially announced that White House spokesperson, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who has had a difficult tenure marked by media attacks and accusations of circulating false information, will be leaving the administration at the end of June.
Trump took to Twitter on Thursday to make his first public statement about Sanders’s exit and he wrote: “Our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas.”
Later in the day at an unrelated event, Trump called Sanders to the podium and said: “She’s a very special person, a very, very fine woman, she has been so great.”
Trump kissed Sanders on the head as she took over the podium with teary eyes to express her gratitude, she said: “This has been the honour of a lifetime, the opportunity of a lifetime…I’ve loved every minute, even the hard minutes, I’ve loved it.”
She added, “I love the president,” and further stressed that she will “continue to be one of the most outspoken and loyal supporters of the president and his agenda.”
