Salah Rescues Liverpool in Salzburg Nail-biter
Mo Salah is riding a wave of glory after he found the back of the net twice to drive Liverpool to a daring 4-3 victory over Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield last night, 2 October.
Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Salah smashed through the Austrian opposition to give the Reds a commanding lead of 3-0 within the first 37 minutes of the game.
However, Salzburg bared their teeth and struck back with 3 goals in the next 30 minutes from Hee-Chan Hwang, Takumi Minamino and Erling Braut Haland, dislodging Liverpool’s confidence and leveling the scoreboard.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp looked on with some concern, but his men managed to rally for one last strike that allowed his 27-year-old Egyptian forward to score the match-deciding goal.
After the game, a relieved Klopp said: “It was far away from being a perfect game but it was a typical Liverpool game, very exciting and never over until the final whistle.”
The final result puts the Reds on par with Salzburg with three points in Group E of the UEFA Champions League – Liverpool will next face EPL team Leicester City on Friday, 5 October.
