The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has threatened to terminate the contracts of several popular actors from the soapie Generations, if they don’t report for duty this morning.

About 16 actors have been on strike since last week.

Their demands include better pay, extended contracts and royalties from episodes that have been rebroadcast.

The dispute between the actors, the SABC and the soapie’s executive producer Mfundi Vundla has been going on for about a year.

Vundla has confirmed striking cast members will be dismissed if they fail to show up on set this morning and this has been communicated to them.

“The actors have received communication from the production company stating that they are expected to render their services on set and failure to do so will leave the production company with no recourse than to terminate their contracts.”
